Gary Hill, a longtime supporter of the Boys & Girls Club of the

Harbor Area in Costa Mesa, won the 50/50 raffle at the annual “Bid

for Kids” dinner and auction. Hill opted to take his winnings of

$1,223 to buy the club a new air hockey table. The proceeds raised at

the event are given to the club’s Lou Yantorn branch at 2131 Tustin

Ave. ... 1994 Estancia High graduate Deb Marcus has been accepted

into the Rabbinic program at Hebrew Union College. She will begin her

studies in Jerusalem in mid-July and, after a year, will return to

the United States for four years of study ... Marine Corps Lance Cpl.

Nicholas B. Zeramby, son of Sherry A. Zeramby of Costa Mesa, made his

way through the Straits of Gibraltar and into the Mediterranean Sea

last month while assigned to the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit in

Camp Lejeune, N.C. Zeramby was one of more than 4,000 Pacific Fleet

Sailors and Marines aboard the ships of the Iwo Jima Amphibious Ready

Group ... Newport Beach resident Kristine J. Harrington, a Davidson

College senior, was recently inducted into the school’s Phi Beta

Kappa national honor society. Harrington is a Newport Harbor High

graduate ... Orange Coast College welding students David Miller and

Jake Rogick were recently awarded scholarships by the Long

Beach/Orange County Section of the American Welding Society. The

scholarships are valued at $300 each. Miller is an advanced OCC

welding student who aspires to become a welding engineer. Rogick is

taking OCC’s orbital welding course this spring ... Jeremy Matthew

Katz, a senior at Mercersburg Academy in Pennsylvania, achieved honor

roll status for the winter term. Katz is the son of Dr. and Mrs.

Stanley G. Katz of Newport Beach.
