Corona del Mar’s Chikovani, Sherman advance to finals

Corona del Mar High boys golfers Nick Sherman and Alex Chikovani both

made the cut and will move on to the final day of competition of the

Pacific Coast League finals at El Prado Golf Course in Chino.

Sherman shot a 2-over-par 74 while Chikovani fired a 77 on the

par-72 Chino Creek Course Wednesday. The cut for today’s final round

was 79, CdM Coach Mike Starkweather said. Sherman and Chikovani join

10 other golfers on the Butterfield Course at El Prado today

beginning at noon.

Sutter Zachman, called up from the junior varsity, shot 80 while

Ben Tilsen and Rob Ury each shot 81. Tim Frohling carded an 83 along

with an 86 from Zach Rabinovich and an 88 by Brad Chamberlin.

The top six from today’s round will qualify for the CIF Southern

Section individual regionals, scheduled May 20 at Black Gold Golf

Course in Yorba Linda.

CdM will compete in a Southern Section regional Monday at 8 a.m.

at El Prado.
