Pirates claim first half title

Richard Levinson’s leadoff home run sent the Diamondbacks a message:

the Pirates were out to claim victory.

Levinson’s blast started a big game for the Pirates who took a

one-game playoff from the D-backs, 5-0, to claim the first half

Majors Division championship at Huntington Valley Little League.

Levinson’s hit was one of six recorded by the Pirates.

Ricky Marin singled and scored in the first inning on Alex

Talbert’s sacrifice fly. In the third inning Brian Corder and Zack

Michael hit consecutive singles and each later would score on Nick

Mazzone’s single up the middle.

Sam Hunt also singled for the Pirates.

Tim Higgins’ performance on the mound limited the D-backs to just

three hits in a complete-game shutout.

Scott Martin doubled and Matt Reza and Ben Hunt each singled to

account for the D-backs’ offensive output.

Ocean View Little League

Yankees 4, A’s 0

Slater Davies pitched a complete game victory with 13 strikeouts

as the division-leading Yankees posted their fourth shutout of the

season.

Michael Nakamura and Davies each scored in the first inning as the

Yankees grabbed an early 2-0 lead. In the third inning, Jesse Mestas

and Davies both singled and later scored when Deondre Moss sent a

double to the centerfield fence to make it 4-0.

Davies backed his pitching effort with two hits on offense.

Kory Kovac and Calvin Primich each singled for the Yankees.

Seaview Little League

Dodgers 10, Padres 1

Kurt Heyer recorded 10 strikeouts and limited the Padres to just

three hits as the Dodgers rolled.

Brandon Visnoski led the Dodgers on offense with two hits and a

run scored.

Chance Ross had a hit and scored twice. Ryan Smith, Josh Lesinski,

Zack Campbell, A.J. Vaccaro and Wrede Cockerill each had a hit and

run scored, Jordan Luevano singled, Benjamin Tinsley walked and

Matthew Read and Dylan Ybarra both walked and scored.

The Dodger defense backed Heyer with an error-free game.
