Victim identified as Corona man

The Orange County Coroner on Tuesday identified the man who was

killed in a motorcycle accident in Newport Beach on Saturday as

38-year-old Alvaro Pereira of Corona.

The incident occurred shortly after 3:30 p.m. Saturday on Superior

Avenue at Ticonderoga Street when Pereira, who was traveling

northbound on Superior from Coast Highway, was hit by a 1978 Lincoln

sedan driven by a 72-year-old man who was traveling southbound,

police said. The vehicles collided as the sedan was turning left on

to Ticonderoga.

Police are still investigating the accident. No one has been

charged or cited, officials said.
