Corona del Mar High’s boys tennis team kept rolling through the

Pacific Coast League finals Tuesday, as two of the Sea Kings’ three

doubles teams advanced to today’s semifinals at Laguna Beach High.

No. 2-seeded Issei Saida and Wesley Miller had few problems,

dropping only two games in two matches. Saida and Miller swept

through a team from Tesoro, 6-0, 6-0 in the first round and then

knocked off Eric Tran and Jeff Ferguson of Laguna Beach, 6-2, 6-0 in

the second.

No. 4-seeded Bryan Warsaw and partner Brennan Roberts took a more

difficult route to the semis. They easily defeated Laguna Beach’s

Jeremy McKiernan and Michael Codini, 6-0, 6-0 in the first round, but

Northwood’s David Eisner and Michael Strenk put up more of a fight in

the second. Eisner and Strenk forced the first set to a tiebreaker,

where Warsaw and Roberts quickly put them away, 7-6 (7-3). The Sea

King duo took the second set, 6-4.

Alex Nguyen and Nick Gingold put up a strong battle with a team

from University, but fell short, 3-6, 6-3, 5-7.

In the singles semifinals today, Corona del Mar teammates, Garrett

Snyder and Spencer Reitz, will face off in one semifinal. Snyder is

the top-seeded player in the tournament. Reitz upset the No. 4 seed

to advance. Third-seeded Carsten Ball will play in the other

semifinal.

The semifinals and finals in singles and doubles will be held

today at Laguna Beach. Doubles competition begins at 1 p.m., singles

at 1:30 p.m.
