The Pacific Coast League champion Corona del Mar High baseball team

finished its league season with a resounding 10-2 triumph over

visiting Tesoro Wednesday.

After a 1-2 league start, the Sea Kings won 11 of 12 league games

to finish 17-8, 12-3 in league. The 17 regular-season wins equals the

most achieved by a CdM team during Coach John Emme’s six-year tenure.

The 2001 PCL champions also won 17 regular-season games.

The Sea Kings now have eight days off before opening the CIF

Southern Section Division IV playoffs May 23. Playoff pairings will

be announced Monday.

Junior starter Todd Macklin surrendered just three hits and no

earned runs in four innings to earn his fifth pitching victory in

seven decisions this spring.

Nick Palchikoff was 2 for 3 with two RBIs, Josh Bradbury went 2

for 5 with two RBIs and Parker Ferguson was 2 for 3 with two runs to

lead the hosts, who had 13 hits and scored in each of the first four

innings.

“It was a workmanlike way to finish the regular season,” said

Emme, who reports his team is healthy and ready for the postseason.
