Full recovery expected for student

A 15-year-old student who suffered a heart attack and went into

full cardiac arrest at Marina High School on April 24 is expected to

make a full recovery.

Andy Bonsall, a Marina High teacher, and Scott Gruneisen, the

school’s security guard, performed CPR on the girl, who had stopped

breathing and had no heartbeat.

The paramedics took over lifesaving measures upon arrival and

rushed the student to the hospital. She was given a pacemaker to

regulate her heartbeat after a few days of recovery and will soon be

released from the hospital.

40 evacuated

after acid spill

The Huntington Beach Fire Department evacuated 40 employees from a

The leaking tank was discovered at 6 a.m. by three employees.

Several fire department units responded as well as the Huntington

Beach and Santa Ana HazMat units.

None of the five employees exposed to the acid were taken to the

hospital.

Later in the morning, a private firm was engaged to clean up the

spill.
