SG Roofing slides into first place

SG Roofing picked up a pair of important victories to clinch the

regular season championship of the AAA Division at Laguna Beach

Little League.

In beating Coldwell Banker and Five Feet, SG Roofing improved its

record to 11-1 and now has a two-game lead in the standings entering

weekend action.

SG Roofing 11, Five Feet 6

In a battle for the regular season championship, SG Roofing

avenged its only loss of the season by beating Five Feet.

Alex Gromet led the SG Roofing attack with a three for three game

that included a double, four RBIs and two runs scored.

Jake Glazer also contributed two hits and Austin Muhlhauser, Tyler

Kesler, Sammy Witte, Evan Rubel, Alex Gustis, Jase Swinden and

Michael Seal also had hits to round out the 12-hit attack.

Brian Vail and Rex Strombotne each notched two hits to lead Five

Feet on offense.

Both teams scored in the opening inning.

Witte singled and scored on Michael Hyden’s hit and Kesler singled

and scored on Gromet’s hit for a 2-0 SG Roofing lead.

Five Feet responded with two runs of its own in the bottom of the

first with Vail smashing a leadoff triple and scoring on Iannotti’s

single and Strombotne singled to score Iannotti to tie the game at

2-2.

The base running of Swinden and Seal in the second inning led to

two more runs and gave SG Roofing the lead for good, 4-2.

A four-run third inning broke the game open as Glazer and Gromet

each singled and Rubel delivered a two-RBI double for an 8-2 lead.

Seal closed on the mound to preserve the victory and the

championship.

SG Roofing 16, Coldwell Banker 5

SG Roofing fell behind, 3-0, in the first inning but stormed back

to record a resounding victory.

Michael Hyden extended his consecutive hits streak to 11-straight

with a three for three performance. Teammate Drew Romero also went

three for three.

SG Roofing’s offensive output also included two hits by Alex

Gromet and singles by Sammy Witte, Jake Glazer, Evan Rubel and Alex

Gustis as the team again pounded out 12 hits.

Kellen Lindley and Alex LeBon led Coldwell Banker with two hits

each and Jordan Glenn tripled.

Brandon Conrad, Jordan Glenn and Travis Kelly each added singles.

Coldwell Banker grabbed its 3-0 first inning lead as Lindley, Jack

Clark and Sawyer Pierce scored on hits by LeBon and Conrad.

SG Roofing countered with a pair of runs in the bottom-half of the

inning as Witte and Hyden scored on hits by Hyden and Romero.

SG Roofing took the lead for good as hits by Gustis and Hyden led

to three more runs in the second frame.

A five-run third inning moved to score to 10-3 in SG Roofing’s

favor as Glazer had a leadoff double and Gromet, Romero and Rubel

each singled.

As he did against Five Feet, Seal closed on the mound in the sixth

and struck out three to end the game.

In AA Division play:

Oysters 7, Javier’s 6

The Oysters scored five runs on seven consecutive hits during a

fourth inning rally and then held off a late Javier’s charge to win

the game.

Teague Hamilton, Bryan Ludloff, Warren Abbate, Nathan Thomas,

Preston Grand Pre, Joe Redfearn and Jack Garcia, the Oysters’ player

of the game, pieced together the seven consecutive singles.
