The Laguna Playhouse Youth Theatre is presenting “The Adventures

of Tom Sawyer,” a new musical adaptation of the classic tale of

boyhood adventures in the late 1800s by Mark Twain. It runs May 9

conjunction with the “Whiteness, A Wayward Construction” exhibit at

California,” Ken Gonzales-Day, a contributing essayist in the exhibit

catalogue, will present a slide lecture based on current research for

THE EARLY 1900s

“Greetings from Laguna Beach: Our Town in the Early 1900s” just

opened at the Laguna Art Museum and will feature paintings,

photographs and memorabilia that chronicle life in Laguna Beach circa

1900 to 1930. The exhibit includes works by William Wendt, Joseph

Kleitsch, Clarence Hinkle, Edgar Payne and Anna Hills. In 1910,

Laguna’s population was around 300 and many of its residents were

writers, artists and musicians -- much like today. Featuring many of

Laguna Beach’s landmarks, past and present, it’s a vivid history of

The second annual “Hunks in Trunks,” Male Model Fashion Show will

return to the runway today at Laguna Art Museum. It’s an evening

General admission is $100 per person and major donation is $500 and

includes a private hosted reception, mingling models and celebrity
