Why learn another language?

The Laguna Beach Coastline Pilot went to Laguna Beach High School and

asked Spanish class students the question, ‘What’s important about

learning another language?’

“Learning about other people’s culture and how they act in a

family situation.”

“It’s pretty interesting, it helps to know about other people, the

way other people speak, instead of being some guy who doesn’t know

anything. Plus it’s pretty fun.”

“Under- standing it, you have to understand certain things,

different ways to say things -- it’s nice to know all of them. You

need to understand if you go somewhere the different cultures, need

to understand how to interpret things and how to treat them with

respect to their culture; it’s really important.
