Horman earns All-American

* WATER POLO: Erica Horman, a junior on the UC Irvine women’s

water polo team, received All-American honorable recognition by the

American Water Polo Coaches.

Horman is the all-time leading scorer at UCI with 173 career

goals. Her total of 65 goals this season broke her own school record

of 57 set in 2002.

Horman was named All-MPSF honorable mention earlier this spring

after leading the Anteaters to their most successful season with 20

wins, the first-ever win over a top-10 opponent and a ninth-place

finish in the MPSF Championships. The Anteaters (20-21, 1-9 in the

MPSF) finished the season ranked 14th in the country after being

ranked as high as 12th this season.

Thune, Hall do not advance

* TRACK AND FIELD: Vanguard University runners Jenny Thune and

Sarah Hall represented the Lions track and field team at the NAIA

National Outdoor Championships Thursday night in Olathe, Kansas.

In the women’s 800 meters preliminary, Thune recorded a time of

2:24, finishing 17th. Thune missed advancing to the next round, as

the top 16 runners moved on.

In the women’s 10,000 meters final, Hall finished 10th out of 26

runners, tallying a time of 38:49. The race marked the end of a great

collegiate career for Hall, who broke numerous Lion records including

the women’s 5,000, which had stood for the past 13 years.

The Lion runners will return to the track today, with Thune

competing in the women’s 1,500 and men’s team member Matt Meyer

running in the 1,500.
