TUESDAY
* Pearl Street Beach: Two males and two females were reported
smoking marijuana on the beach with a large glass tube at around
noon. One of the four was cited for possessing less than an ounce of
marijuana, and the glass tube was confiscated.
* South Coast Highway: Police received a call that more than
$4,000 worth of jewelry had been stolen from a visitor’s motel room
at around 10 a.m. There was no apparent forced entry.
MONDAY
* North Coast Highway: Police arrested a 52-year-old resident on
suspicion of public intoxication when two waste management workers
complained that she was screaming and blocking entrance to their
truck at around 3 p.m.
SUNDAY
* Jasmine Street: Police temporarily seized several firearms after
a resident reported that her boyfriend had bitten her while they were
having a fight in the car. Police searched their house and
confiscated the guns until the situation “cooled off,” Sgt. Jason
Kravetz said.
* Ocean Way: A resident reported at 7:31 p.m. that partygoers next
door were flicking lighted cigarette butts from their roof toward his
house, burning several holes in his patio cover. He said he also
found condoms and bottle caps.
SATURDAY
* Oak Street: Police arrested a man on a $15,000 warrant for
driving with a suspended license after receiving a call at 4:18 p.m.
that a man riding a bicycle was urinating on the caller’s lawn.
* Alta Laguna Boulevard: The fire department reported that bees
had taken up residence in the fire house at 1:42 p.m. Police notified
a beekeeper, who removed them.
* Quivera Street: A resident reported at 10:10 a.m. that a very
big spider was in her house. Police found a tarantula, and took it
into custody.
* Aster Street: Police arrested a 31-year-old resident under
suspicion of driving under the influence and driving with a suspended
license after pulling him over twice in one day. The first time they
pulled him over in his orange Hummer, the driver was given a ticket
for driving with a suspended license. While making another traffic
stop in the 400 block, the same officer saw the suspect stagger into
his car and drive off. The officer pulled him over again and arrested
him at 3:12 a.m.
MAY 30
* Temple Hills Drive: A truck towing a trailer full of tar smashed
into a resident’s wall while driving downhill at 2:56 p.m. The driver
said his brakes stopped working, but police said they found no
evidence of that.
* Bluebird Canyon Drive: A resident reported at 12:08 p.m. that
someone above his house had been driving golf balls onto his property
for six to eight weeks, some of which had come dangerously close to
striking him. He said he had a few ideas of who was doing it, and
that he felt it might be intentional.
* Cliff Drive: Police responded to a domestic dispute at 8:28 a.m.
A man claimed his ex-wife ripped off his glasses, threw picture
frames at him and an 18-inch piece of firewood at his car after
seeing that he was with another woman. The victim had gone to his
ex-wife’s house to pick up their 8-year-old daughter. He said his
ex-wife, to whom he had been married for 10 years, lost it upon
seeing a woman in his passenger seat.
