Cheyne Martin saved his best offensive showing for the last day of

the regular season.

Martin poured in a new city youth record of 70 points to power the

Clippers past the Celtics, 95-87, in the city of Laguna Beach

Community Service Department’s Junior Basketball League.

The Clippers, who clinched the regular season title with the

victory, got the win despite the absence of starting center Nat

Weaver.

Their short and quick attack was led by Martin who hit from both

inside and out and connected on 32 field goals to tie Jim

Richardson’s 1974 record for most field goals in a game.

Martin also hit six for six free throws which allowed him to break

Richardson’s single-game city scoring record of 68 points set in that

same 1974 season.

Nick Witte scored 13 points and River Myers had eight points for

the Clippers, their output helping to offset a 37-point effort by the

Celtics’ Brian Delino and 36-point game by Nathan Pickett.

The Clippers held a 48-46 halftime lead.

The Lakers moved into a second-place tie with the Tartans in the

final regular season standings by defeating their league rival.

points to top the Tartans who led by eight at the half but scored

just 11 points after intermission.

Trailblazers 74, Bruins 47

The Trailblazers blazed past the Bruins as E.J. Gomez poured in 27

points, including three, three-pointers and Bobby Monroe added 21

points.

Bruins.
