Dance Day offers

wide range of styles

The California Choreographers Dance Festival will host its second

annual Dance Day on Saturday.

The free day of dance will include classes and performances in a

wide range of styles.

The classes begin at 10 a.m. with a modern dance workshop by

Cheryl Chaddick. From 11:30 a.m. to 12:50 p.m., Lula Washington will

teach modern dance. Paul Maure will follow with a ballet class from 1

to 2:20 p.m. Steve Josephson will finish the day from 4:30 to 5:50

p.m. These classes will be held at No Square Theatre’s rehearsal

studio at 221 Broadway.

Dance performances by Company Chaddick, Lula Washington, Hartfel

Ballet and Laguna Beach Youth Ballet Studios will begin at 4 p.m. at

the cobblestone area of Main Beach, which is just steps away from No

Square. Following the day’s events is a post-party party.

Since its inception in 1998, the California Choreographers Dance

Festival has been teaching classes, putting on performances and

opening the art of dance up to Laguna, through collaborative events

at the art festivals, events at Laguna Museum, for First Thursday’s

Art Walk, art galleries and other venues.

Especially noteworthy this year is the addition of Company

Chaddick, one of the most acclaimed and imaginative modern dance

companies in San Francisco.
