Bradbury, Long All-CIF
Corona del Mar High junior Josh Bradbury, the Newport-Mesa Player of
the Year and Pacific Coast League Most Valuable Player, tops two Sea
Kings named All-CIF Southern Section Division IV by section baseball
coaches.
Bradbury, who blasted 10 home runs, drove in 28 and hit .438 to
help the Sea Kings win the PCL and advance to the CIF Division IV
quarterfinals, is a first-team pick.
Bradbury also was 4-2 with a 3.44 ERA as a pitcher, striking out
41 in 39 innings.
Senior Keith Long, the Sea Kings’ shortstop the last four seasons,
is a second-team honoree after hitting .356 with one home run, 19
RBIs and scoring 25 runs. He represented CdM in the Orange County
All-Star Game and plans to continue his career at Orange Coast
College.
La Quinta High senior Ian Stewart, selected 10th overall by the
Colorado Rockies in the recent first-year-player draft, is the Player
of the Year after helping lead the Aztecs to the Division IV title.
La Quinta defeated CdM, 4-0, in one quarterfinal May 30.
La Quinta head man Dave Demarest is the Division IV Coach of the
Year.
