Three Breakers earn all-league
Three members of the Laguna Beach High baseball team were selected to
the 2003 All-Pacific Coast League Baseball Team, the league
announced.
Senior Brian Beck, who played first base and outfield and pitched
for the Breakers during the season, was named to the 11-member First
Team.
Two Laguna players, senior pitcher Jonathon Cedeno and junior
third baseman/pitcher/catcher Conley Sampson, were named to the
11-member Second Team.
Corona del Mar junior Josh Bradbury was named the league MVP and
Northwood junior Brian Deloach was named the Most Valuable pitcher.
Beck, Cedeno, Chris Stansbury and Blake Hite represented Laguna
last Saturday in the Pacific Coast and Sea View leagues All-Star game
that was part of the South County Showcase.
The Sea View League claimed a 10-0 shutout victory at Windrow Park
in Irvine.
All four Breakers played in the contest as Beck played center and
left field, Cedeno pitched in the second inning, Stansbury pitched
shut out ball in the sixth and threw to a familiar target as Hite was
behind the plate.
The Pacific Coast League team was coached by all six league
coaches, including Laguna’s Mike Schubert.
