Kids invited to swing into the library

DISCOVER YOUR PUBLIC LIBRARY

This summer, your library invites youngsters, toddlers through teens,

to participate in its exciting Summer Reading Program, “It’s a Jungle

Out There ... Swing Into Your Library.”

The program, which runs from June 23 through Aug. 16, offers young readers three ways to play. “Read to Me” is for children to whom

books are read and “Read On My Own” challenges kindergarteners

through middle schoolers to read books o their choosing.

Teens are encouraged to participate in their own “Get Wild --

Read” program. Summer readers chart their reading time by marking off

jungle animals on their reading logs and earning up to four new

paperbacks books of their choice.

Also, as part of this summer’s library fun, don’t forget to come

to or “Tropical Tuesday” evening programs from 7 to 8 p.m. featuring:

June 24: Alligator Al’s Traveling Reptile Pals

July 1: The Magician and His Rain Forest Adventure with David

Skale

July 8: The Rain Forest Tour with Jeff Korman

July 15: Illusion by Allen

July 22: World Famous Juggler David Cousin

July 29: Jim Gamble’s Wonder World of Puppets

Aug. 5: Magic in the Midst with John Abrams Animal Magic

Aug. 12: Music and Stories featuring Asha’s Baba

Reading during the summer has proven to keep children’s minds

sharp and youngsters earn free books too. Children who read for fun

and information do better in school and those who participate in

summer reading programs are more likely to maintain and improve their

reading skills during the summer break. So, we invite our community’s

young people to swing into their library this summer and grab some

good books to enjoy!
