‘THE SECRET ORDER’

Laguna Playhouse is showing the West Coast premier of Bob Clyman’s

“The Secret Order.” It’s a play about what happens when an obscure

cancer researcher achieves a breakthrough and is whisked into the

hidden world of high stakes medicine. Tickets are $27 to $49 and it

FAMILY SING ALONG

Every fourth Friday of the month from 6 to 9 p.m. No Square

Theatre will have a family sing along with the renowned Terry Alaric

‘WHITENESS’ AT LAM

The exhibit “Whiteness, A Wayward Construction” at the Laguna Art

Museum is a group exhibition of 28 individual artists and

collaborative teams working in various media, who explore

exhibit is that everyone in the United States is constructed in the

political imagination as a racial subject. The exhibit is curated by

OUR TOWN IN

THE EARLY 1900s

“Greetings from Laguna Beach: Our Town in the Early 1900s” just

opened at the Laguna Art Museum and will feature paintings,

photographs and memorabilia that chronicle life in Laguna Beach circa

1900 to 1930. The exhibit includes works by William Wendt, Joseph

Kleitsch, Clarence Hinkle, Edgar Payne and Anna Hills. In 1910,

Laguna’s population was around 300 and many of its residents were

writers, artists and musicians -- much like today. Featuring many of

Laguna Beach’s landmarks, past and present, it’s a vivid history of

JUNE 27

SAWDUST ART FESTIVAL OPENS

The Sawdust Art Festival will be June 27 through Aug. 31. The

festival will have more than 195 local artists displaying and selling

their original items in a handcrafted village nestled in an

eucalyptus grove. Live entertainment. Art workshops and

demonstrations. Three cafes and a saloon. The Sawdust is at 935

Laguna Canyon Road. Tickets are: adults $6.50, seniors $5.50,

children 6 to 12 $2; season pass $12. It will be open daily from 10

ART-A-FAIR OPENS

The Art-A-Fair Festival will run June 27 through Aug. 31. It’s at

777 Laguna Canyon Road. Season pass for adults is $5, children under

12 free with adult; senior discounts are available. It’s open Sunday

through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Friday to Saturday 10

a.m. to 10 p.m. Visitors are offered the opportunity to view and

acquire art directly from the artist exhibitors. There will be

special artist demonstrations and lectures. Free workshops.

Marion Meyer Contemporary Art is having the exhibit

“Menage-a-trois,” an exhibition featuring an intimate union of three

styles and aesthetic liaison among Georges Monfils, Paula Schoen and

Christian Lopez. It opens with an artist reception from 7 to 10 p.m.

June 28 and is free. The gallery is at 354 North Coast Highway.

BREAKFAST WITH THE BEAR

The public is invited to have “Breakfast with the Bear” from 9:30

to 11 a.m. today at LagunaCanyonArtists.com at 3251 Laguna Canyon

Road, studio H-1. See the work in progress by eight artists as they

decorate a giant grizzly bear statue. Painted as a vintage postcard,

this bear will be displayed at the Orange County Fair and later at

the California State Fair in Sacramento. Breakfast will include

coffee, grizzly-bear-claws, Orange County juice and straw-bear-ies.
