Student heads to confer on hill

Janice Hanawi, a seventh-grader at Huntington Christian School was

selected to attend the Junior National Young Leaders Conference in

Washington D.C. in July.

The week-long conference, themed The Legacy of American

Leadership, will examine the traditions of past American leaders and

help students develop leadership skills. The impact of leadership

during critical periods of American history will be addressed in

depth.

“I am looking forward to learning about leadership qualities that

I could really use,” the 13-year-old said. “I am willing to learn

anything I can.”

Janice said she would like to become a pediatrician in the future

but leadership skills are helpful in any field.

“I’m sure it will help me in high school, college and a future

job,” she said. “I have no idea what to expect.”
