Butterbean, a blue-eyed, male, neutered Flamepoint Siamese cat is

looking for a home.

Most people look to adopt kittens, not adult cats, who end up

being put to sleep, said DiAnna Pfaff-Martin, founder of the Newport

Beach-based Community Animal Network. “Adult animals are dying for

our help.”

While many caregivers leave for vacation during the sunny summer

months, the network has been left short-handed.

As more and more cats are found abandoned in shopping carts,

bushes, boat yards and garages, the network needs help rescuing them

all, Pfaff-Martin said.

“Shelters being overcrowded will destroy them all,” she said.

“Please help.”

The network will open a second adoption site at Russo’s pet store

in the Irvine Spectrum this weekend.

“A Russo’s Spectrum adoption coordinator and volunteers are

needed,” Pfaff-Martin said. “Please call my cell phone at (949)

697-6632 to help immediately.”
