SUNDAY

* South Coast Highway: A resident reportedly nudged a man standing

in a parking space with his 1996 Honda as the victim tried to reserve

the spot until his friend arrived. A witness called police at 1:59

p.m. after they started arguing about who deserved the spot in the

400 block. The nudged man suffered no injuries, and his opponent

ended up with the spot. Police made no arrests.

SATURDAY

* South Coast Highway: a 21-year-old transient was arrested on

suspicion of burglary after trying to take a bottle of Jack Daniel’s

and Grand Marnier from the Ralph’s supermarket at 4:04 p.m. It was

ruled a burglary rather than petty theft because he had no money to

buy the liquor.

* Lombardy Lane: Police arrested a resident on suspicion of felony

domestic violence after she reportedly punched her boyfriend in the

face and scratched his chin at around 3 p.m. She was taken to Orange

County jail and held for $25,000 bail.

* Nyes Place: An officer patrolling the area stopped at the stop

sign at Highland Road and had a tree fall on his car, cracking the

windshield. The officer suffered no injuries. The owners of the

property that the tree was on will be asked to pay for the damaged

windshield.

* South Coast Highway: Police arrested a Riverside resident on

suspicion of intent to sell and transport marijuana when they found

less than an ounce along with a digital scale and several baggies.

Police stopped the car in the 30000 block at 7:15 a.m. because it

didn’t have a front license plate. The 25-year-old suspect is a

professional driver who was taking a 22-year-old exotic dancer home

from work when arrested.

JUNE 27

* Cliff Drive: Police arrested a 23-year-old Irvine resident at

around 10:30 p.m. under suspicion of being drunk in public after they

saw him walking in front of Las Brisas wearing only underwear. The

suspect, who was difficult to understand because of slurring, said he

was from Arizona, police said. He said he’d been swimming in the

ocean, which is why his underwear was wet and sandy.

* Aliso Beach: Officers responded to calls that a suspicious man

on the beach was leering at people from behind a book, then hiding

his face if anyone saw him looking. Police deemed him merely

“strange” and advised him to leave the beach at around 4 p.m.

* Forest Avenue: The Fingerhut Gallery reported that a patron

stole a $15,000 frosted glass sculpture and waved at witnesses as he

got in his green Volvo at 1:44 p.m. Police have the license plate

number and are searching for the thief. The sculpture is of a 34-inch

nude woman reaching toward the sky.

* Forest Avenue: An angry father from La Verne told police at 9:32

a.m. that his ex-wife, a Laguna Beach resident, was hiding their

13-year-old son. The two have joint custody of the child. It was

discovered that the mother was merely late dropping him off, which

the father wanted documented.

JUNE 26

* South Coast Highway: Police arrested a 37-year-old Dana Point

man for possession of cocaine and sent his passenger to San

Clemente’s border patrol after a motorist saw them passing a straw

and snorting while driving at 5:37 p.m. The officer saw the driver

stick something under the seat, which turned out to be a trace amount

of cocaine. The officer also found an open container.

JUNE 25

* Hillcrest Drive: A 38-year-old Rancho Santa Margarita woman said

she was raped at Riddle Field sometime between the night of June 11

and the morning of June 12 after taking several sleeping pills and

sitting in her car.
