North Huntington Beach team moves on to nationals

For the first time in league history, the North Huntington Beach

12-and-under girls’ softball All-Star team has qualified for the

national tournament.

Surf ‘N Softball earned a berth in the upcoming event by winning

three games at the State tournament held in Lancaster.

They defeated Vista, 2-1, blanked Hart, 4-0 and routed Lake

Elsinore, 9-2, to qualify for the national tournament that will run

July 28 through Aug. 3 in Roseville, Calif.

Surf ‘N Sport previously won the District tournament to qualify

for the State tournament.

Surf ‘N Softball is comprised of Erica Congelliere, Kellie

Cuadras, Taryn Devich, Brook Hitchcock, Alex Lorfino, Taysia Kaufman,

Kendall Kraiss, Cristina Kuehn, Alex McCollum, Kristin Mendez, Mariah

Nogueira, Amy Nunez, Jenny Pilecki, Rebecca Sass and coaches Herb

Cuadras and Rudy Sass.
