The opening game of the best-of-three Majors Division series of the

District 62 All-Star Tournament has gone to Huntington Valley.

The host team defeated Seaview Monday night at Wardlow Park, 9-6.

Huntington Valley recorded the victory on 10 hits and once again,

Race Parmenter homered to power the attack.

Parmenter hit his third home run in two games with a solo shot in

the second inning.

Huntington Valley erupted for five runs in the third frame by

piecing together singles by Jimmy Miller and Devin Huskins and

doubles by Tim Higgins, Trevor Springman and Tanner Phillips.

They pushed across two more runs in the fourth behind singles by

Huskins and Nick Mazzone.

Seaview came back strong in the fifth as Chris Czerniachowski,

Jake Burke and Ryan Miller scored to make it a 9-4 game. They scored

twice more in the sixth on hits by JB Bryant, Czerniachowski, Chance

Ross, Miller and Brandon Visnoski to close the gap to 9-6.

The pitching of Parmenter, however, finished off Seaview.

centerfield fence. In the fourth, his second round-tripper tied the

Slaton was hit by a pitch. A few hitters later and with bases loaded,

Parmenter and roped a grounder toward first base and the ball was

mishandled, allowing the winning run to score.

The pitching of Devin Huskins and Barry Luke secured the victory.

Huskins threw the first six innings and his strong performance

limited Fountain Valley to two runs on four hits.

Luke’s two innings of relief work included giving up three hits

but not allowing a run.
