Heating up in the summer
Corona del Mar’s girls summer water polo team continued its winning
ways with two more victories recently.
On Friday, CdM beat Huntington Beach, 7-4, getting three goals
apiece from Katya Eadington and Camille Hewko. Jordan Anae added one
goal while goalie Brittany Fullen contributed 13 saves.
Eadington made five steals while Natalie Wayte and Hewko each
added two. Anae tallied two assists.
On Monday, CdM defeated Fountain Valley, 9-3, taking a commanding
6-0 lead at intermission.
Amy Strack, Katie Kubas and Anae each scored two goals while
Ashley Chandler, Hewko and Madison Jackson found the back of the cage
once apiece.
Kelsey McCormick made three saves and Hewko led the team with
three steals. Eadington and Chandler each added two steals.
Thaler finishes third
* WRESTLING: Gabriel Thaler, who will be a freshman in the fall at
Estancia High, placed third at the Orange County Wrestling Coaches
Association Summer League Tournament at El Dorado High on Friday,
winning five of six matches.
After pinning North Torrance’s David Little in the first round,
Thaler lost to eventual champion Nick Abraham (Edison), 10-0. Thaler
then pinned four consecutive opponents to capture the third-place
medal.
