Price made life enjoyable at NBCC

The Daily Pilot is sad to report that Bob Price, a longtime member

and volunteer at Newport Beach Country Club, will not be keeping

score at this year’s Tea Cup Classic and Jones Cup golf tournaments.

The Newport Beach resident passed away on May 20 after a long bout

with an illness. He was 75. He is survived by his widow, Marge, who

is also a club member.

Jerry Anderson, NBCC’s president and chief operating officer,

often golfed with Price, who was honored with the club’s

Distinguished Service Award.

“Bob probably had the most interest in the club than any other

member I can think of,” said Anderson, who has been at the facility

for 18 years.

Price sat an many committees and served a term as president of the

club’s Board of Governors. Price was a member at the club when

Anderson arrived in the early 1980s, but then moved to Memphis,

Tenn., before returning to Newport Beach in 1987.

“He always had time for other people and did things with a smile

on his face,” Anderson said. “He was always willing to help a worker

take on any task. Bob was there to help lug bags from the parking

lot.

“He would do anything to make it better and more enjoyable for

everyone. I miss him.”
