Sasha and her baby kitten, Monte, are part of the Newport

Beach-based Community Animal Network’s effort to find homes for

animal families.

“Sasha is a very loving family cat that is vocal like a Siamese

when she wants to be loved,” founder DiAnna Pfaff-Martin said. “Her

son Monte was raised with children, making him very resilient to a

high-activity home and noise.”

After adoption, cats often feel the pain of separation and cry as

a loved one goes to a new home, Pfaff-Martin said.

“Two is always better than one,” she said.

The network has been stressing the importance of monitored

playtime as a part of its pet parenting classes, Pfaff-Martin said.

“Hands are not toys and kittens can learn to bite when hands are

used to wrestle,” she said. “Hands are for showing love only.”
