Surfers hit the red carpet at Surf City opening

Some of the top women in the sport of professional surfing gathered

Tuesday night at Mann Pierside Pavilion Six in Downtown Huntington

Beach for the world premiere of the new women’s surf film, “The Modus

Mix.”

Thirteen athletes attended the opening, including former U.S. Open

women’s champions Lisa Andersen and Keala Kennelly, Rochelle Ballard,

Holly Beck and Chelsea Georgeson.

Beck and Georgeson starred in the WB Network’s, “Boarding House:

North Shore.”

Kennelly starred in the movie, “Blue Crush,” and Ballard doubled

for actress Kate Bosworth in the same film.

Andersen served as a surfing stunt double for actress Cameron Diaz

in the movie, “Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle.”

The women are in town for the U.S. Open of Surfing which runs

today through Sunday.

Beck and Ballard are among the competitors vying for the 2003

crown.
