Anchoring seminar at yacht club set

The Bahia Corinthian Yacht Club will host a free seminar on

anchoring techniques with Karen Prioleau at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 4.

Prioleau, a boating and sailing expert, will demonstrate anchoring

techniques and focus on Southern California waters with a special

emphasis on the Channel Islands, including Catalina Island.

A Newport Beach party with extra jazz

Jazz lovers will have the chance to cruise to some cool tunes

Sunday as part of the ninth annual West Coast Jazz Party this

weekend.

The Hornblower yacht Entertainer will be the site of the Newport

Harbor cruise, which will include a champagne brunch. More than 20

jazz musicians, including the Gerald Clayton Trio and Hamilton &

Hamilton, will perform.

Boarding begins at 10:30 a.m. The cruise starts at 11 a.m. and
