Tennis challenger series dates set

Dates for the fall 2003 Laguna Beach Junior Tennis Challenger

Series have been set for the competition which will be at Alta Laguna

Park.

The fall tournament will run on the dates of Sept. 21, Oct. 26 and

Nov. 30.

The top eight point holders from those three events will qualify

to compete in the year-end Challenger championship scheduled for Dec.

7.

The challenger series, open to novice to advanced players,

features 2 1/2 hours of singles round robin with ribbon awards for

the top four finishers in each age group and players can participate

in any or all of the three tournaments.

Entry deadline is 4 p.m. on the Thursday prior to each of the

three tournament dates.

Registration, is being accepted at the Laguna Beach Recreation

Department, will be taken on Sept. 18, Oct. 23 and Nov. 27 at the

In other tennis news, walk-in registration for Junior Tennis

lessons with the Laguna Beach Recreation Department is still open.

Pee Wee, Junior and Teen classes are available in Beginner and

Competitor divisions.

The classes, coached by Julie Heussenstamm and several assistant

coaches, begin Friday, Sept. 19.
