Let’s make a toast to Dan Marcheano for:

Running one of Newport’s truly fine restaurants, the Arches, with

a style all his own for more than 20 years (still a short stretch by

Arches standards).

Sending a little comfort to his fellow Marines (Marcheano’s a

former Marine, himself) while they were fighting in Iraq, again with

a style all his own. No cookies or cakes from him. He supplied

whiskey and cigars.

Paying special attention to a Marine from Newport-Mesa, Cass

Spence. While Spence was overseas, Marcheano made sure faulty pipes

got fixed at the Spence house and paid to have the place cleaned.

Hating to get any praise for any of the above.
