Clearing up a few missteps about TeWinkle Park plan

I stubbed my toe in my attempt to clarify the facts surrounding the

Parks and Recreation Commission’s TeWinkle Park Master Plan

recommendations to the City Council. In my Aug. 29 letter to the

Daily Pilot, I wrote that the commission’s recommendation to retain

the corner of Junipero and Arlington as an alternate skateboard park

site “supercedes whatever recommendation the Planning Commission

hatches on this matter.”

Not so. The fact is, the City Council will consider

recommendations from both the Parks and Recreation Commission and the

Planning Commission. The actions of either commission do not

supercede the actions of the other. I’m sorry for the error.

The main point of my letter -- to correct the implication that our

skate park decision still needs “to get the approval of the Planning

Commission...” -- is accurate.
