Edison in Division I preseason poll

The Edison High football team received recognition in the 2003

preseason CIF-Southern Section Division I poll, but the Chargers were

not ranked in the Top 10.

Edison was listed among “others” in the first poll, a list that

included Servite, A.B. Miller and Long Beach Jordan.

The Division I Top Ten was headed by Edison’s Sunset League rival,

Los Alamitos, the defending Division I champion.

The Griffins defeated Mater Dei, ranked second in the preseason

poll, in last year’s division final.

Another Sunset team, Esperanza, came in at No. 5.

Following Los Alamitos and Mater Dei, the rest of the Division I

preseason poll consisted of Long Beach Poly, St. John Bosco,

Esperanza, Loyola, Lakewood, Bishop Amat, East Valley Redlands and

Redlands.

In the Small Schools preseason poll, Huntington’s Liberty

Christian was ranked eighth.
