Back to the business of post-summer Laguna

Ah, yes, one summer has ended and a new one has begun. I love the

fall summer. It amazes me how quickly Laguna Beach transforms itself

after the Labor Day weekend. From the hustle and bustle back to the

little sleepy town we love so much.

Just a thought, but would it be impossible for the City Council to

approve some designated parking in town for residents only?

While we’re on the subject of parking, I may have mentioned this

before, but why do our parking permits here say “Shopper” and not

“Resident?”

Keeping with the fall summer theme there will be a beach cleanup

on Sept. 20 at Main Beach and Aliso. Good karma for those who lend a

helping hand in keeping our beaches clean.

Funny, the other night I was introduced to a person who asked me

to write about the constant problem of ocean pollution, and my reply

was that I have written about this subject so many times that it has

become almost redundant. But has it? Stop polluting our beloved

ocean.

In other great beach news it was awesome to watch Laguna Beach’s

Dain Blanton win his second consecutive Assn. of Volleyball

Professionals tournament over the weekend. He won the Las Vegas

Shootout with partner Jeff Nygaard for their third title of the year

on the AVP Tour.

It should also be noted, for kids aspiring to become professional

athletes, that Blanton serves as one of your role models. He is one

of the hardest working professional athletes I have had the privilege

of knowing. Success doesn’t happen overnight and Blanton’s success is

a testament to his intense work ethic.

Tell next time,

Peace.
