Assisteens seeking new members

The Assisteens of Laguna Beach are seeking new members for 2003-04.

Assisteens is a nonprofit organization consisting of teenage girls in

grades nine to 12 that contribute to the community of Orange County

and Laguna Beach.

Recently the Assisteens traveled to Scottsdale, Ariz. for a

nationwide convention, where chapters from all over the country

joined together to learn, share and create new philanthropic and

fund-raising ideas.

The highlight of the convention was the trade show, where each

chapter displayed their most rewarding philanthropic project of the

year. Laguna Beach presented “Senior Bingo” as their most well

received community service project. Senior bingo is held at the

senior center on Legion Street. The game starts off with a breakfast

prepared by the Assisteens. Following the breakfast is a raffle where

seniors win many prizes donated to the Assisteens by local stores.

The prizes include gift certificates and useful products.

Through this project the seniors are able to have a fun,

fulfilling day and the Assisteens walk away with memories of a

lifetime. Having endured the heat of Arizona for four days the

Assisteens are ready for a fantastic new year, as well as welcoming

new members.
