Living here in the United States, most of us have no idea how
horrific war truly is. It’s not everyday we see men and women who
wear the scars of battle, let alone getting to hear the story behind
their wounds. Spending an hour with Cpl. Bryan Bergey on this
assignment gave me some insight on what life for a soldier in
Operation Scorpion is like.
Bergey was quite open about his tour in the Middle East, the
experiences he lived, and the event that led to the loss of his right
eye. The finished product, the portrait of Cpl. Bryan Bergey, came
out fairly nice, the only thing that could have made it better would
be switching out the Iraqi medal with a Purple Heart. However, at the
time of the assignment, he hadn’t received it yet.
