Albright, McKitterick ignite CdM

Katie Albright and Katie McKitterick shared medalist honors with a

pair of 42s on Tuesday to lead Corona del Mar High’s girls golf team

to a 233-239 nonleague win over Woodbridge on the par-35 front nine

at Newport Beach Country Club.

Joanna Kim shot 48 while Maggie Nelson tallied a 50 and Veronica

Friedman finished with a 54 for CdM (2-0). The Sea Kings take on

Santa Margarita at Coto de Caza Golf & Racquet Club at 3 p.m.

Thursday.

Harbor blanks Bonita

* FIELD HOCKEY: Tiffany Vandersloot scored twice and Danica

Kalmbach added a single goal as Newport Harbor High’s field hockey

team improved to 2-0 with a 3-0 victory over visiting Bonita Tuesday

at Harper School. Kristen Jendrusina assisted on Vandersloot’s first

goal.

Newport, playing without Reese Simmons (concussion) and senior

goalkeeper Amanda Campbell (representing Southern California at a

rules meeting in Rhode Island), outshot Bonita, 21-13, and scored all

of its goals in the second quarter. Ciara Lawrence was brought up

from junior varsity to take Wittman’s place and made three saves.

Strong midfield and defense came from Lauren Curtis, Danielle

Pfaff, Casey Ibbetson and Ashley Gleason. Jenny Taylor added passes

up to the front lines for Newport, which travels to face Westminster

at 3:15 p.m. Thursday.

Rancho sweeps Sage

* VOLLEYBALL: Visiting Rancho Alamitos High swept Sage Hill School

, 25-21, 29-27, 25-22, in a nonleague girls volleyball match Tuesday.

Cat Dailey led the Lightning (1-1) with six kills while Sophia

Hillgren and Debbie Yoder-Lee each added six service aces.

Eagles top Savanna

* WATER POLO: Estancia High’s boys water polo team scored five

third-period goals en route to a 12-6 nonleague victory over visiting

Savanna Tuesday. Chad Kunert and Paul Collier each had five goals for

the Eagles (1-2) while Anthony Hermann added two. Nathan Marsteller

made six saves. The Eagles led, 4-2, at halftime.

On Monday, the Eagles played El Modena even for one period, but

the visiting Vanguards pulled away for an 18-8 nonleague victory.

Paul Collier paced the Eagles with five goals, while Anthony Hermann

added two and Chad Kunert one.
