Estancia downs Mesa

Estancia High’s girls tennis team defeated Costa Mesa, 17-1, Thursday

to remain unbeaten and in first place in the Golden West League.

It was the first time since Rachel de los Santos took over the

Eagles’ program three years ago that Estancia (6-0, 5-0) has beaten

the Mustangs (2-3, 2-2), who are the defending league champs.

The Eagles won all nine singles sets, with senior Stacie Nellor,

junior Yvonne Zaidler and freshman Sarah Stratton all sweeping.

Asia Ingram and Heather Morton swept in doubles for the Eagles, as

did Sarah Muradian and Hannah Simmons. Kittiya Sudhikam and Huong

Thai won two sets.

Sea Kings triumph

* Senior Brittany Holland swept in singles and senior Juliette

Mutzke won two singles sets before defaulting with cramps to lead the

Sea Kings to a 13-5 nonleague girls tennis victory at Dana Hills

Thursday. CdM improved to 3-2.

Tsoong, Flynn lead Sage

* Jessica Tsoong and Sarah Flynn each swept at No. 1 doubles to

lead the Sage Hill School girls tennis team to a 13-5 nonleague

victory over visiting Fairmont Prep Thursday at Park Newport.

Ale Hsu and Salen Andrews, along with the duo of Laura Webb and

Grace Graham, each won two sets. Hsu and Andrews came back from a 5-0

deficit to defeat Fairmont Prep’s No. 1 doubles team in a tiebreaker

(7-5).

Sarah Geocaris and Sara Sweeny each won two sets in singles for

the Lightning (5-1, 3-0 in the Academy League).
