ART CLASSES AT FESTIVAL

Festival of Arts is offering fall art classes on Saturdays running

through Nov. 30 with Jr. Membership classes for children at $5 per

class and adult classes which are $70 for festival members and $85

STONE CARVING WORKSHOP

Laguna College of Art and Design is offering a community education

Stone Carving workshop runs each Saturday through Nov. 15. Learn the

techniques of this time-honored art form using both hand and

pneumatically driven tools working in a variety of available stones.

The class will be taught by stone carvers Marvin Johnson and Joseph

Sovella. No prior experience is necessary. The class is available for

beginners to advanced. Enjoy working outdoors sculpting stone into

forms of almost any size or shape. Technical skills will be taught as

part of the process. The class costs $300 for its 10-week session. To

WEEKEND HIKES

Laguna Coast Wilderness Park offers hiking, mountain biking and

equestrian riding on designated trails at the Willow Canyon Staging

Area, 20101 Laguna Canyon Road, and hiking on designated trails at

the Dilley Preserve on Laguna Canyon Road every Saturday and Sunday.

OUR TOWN IN

THE EARLY 1900s

“Greetings from Laguna Beach: Our Town in the Early 1900s” just

opened at the Laguna Art Museum and will feature paintings,

photographs and memorabilia that chronicle life in Laguna Beach circa

1900 to 1930. The exhibit includes works by William Wendt, Joseph

Kleitsch, Clarence Hinkle, Edgar Payne and Anna Hills. In 1910,

Laguna’s population was around 300 and many of its residents were

writers, artists and musicians -- much like today. Featuring many of

Laguna Beach’s landmarks, past and present, it’s a vivid history of

BIBLE STUDY

The semester for Word Study Laguna Beach, a community

nondenominational, non-exclusive Bible study, will begin at noon at

the Calvary Evangelical Free Church. Word Study Laguna Beach is an

independent ministry of Word Study International and meets weekly

‘ART ESCAPES’

Laguna Outreach Community Arts will be holding art workshops with

FALL CLASSES

South Coast Music Together’s new fall classes will begin Oct. 6

with classes at two community locations -- Lang park at 21540 Wesley

Drive and the Laguna Beach City Hall Recreation Building at 515

Forest Ave. The Music Together approach develops every child’s

natural musical ability through experience rather than theory.

Cosmic Thinkers combines technology and the arts in creative computer

BRIDGE

The Round Robin Bridge Club, sponsored by the Woman’s Club of

South Coast Medical Center holds a beachcombers walking club from

9:45 to 10:45 a.m. every Tuesday and Friday. Beginning with gentle

stretches, this self-paced walking program takes participants through

The Laguna Beach Senior Center hosts a monthly USDA surplus food

distribution from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. the last Friday of the month.

Participants must have a monthly income less than $1,044 for a single

upper level of the Veteran’s Memorial Community Center, 384 Legion

The South Coast YMCA will offer a new class that addresses

functional strength, balance and stability for seniors. Led by a

certified senior fitness associate and YMCA instructor, the classes

The SilverSneakers Fitness classes is an ongoing series designed

for strengthening and conditioning. The self-paced classes are taught
