Eagles still undefeated

Estancia High’s girls tennis team completed the first round of Golden

West League play undefeated, downing host Orange, 13-5, Tuesday for

its latest triumph.

The Eagles (7-0, 6-0 in league) received strong play from their

No. 1 doubles team of Asia Ingram and Heather Morton, who swept their

three sets while Kittiya Sudhikam and Huong Thai took two sets.

Stacie Nellor, Yvonne Zaidler and Sara Stratton all won two of

three singles sets.

Sarah Muradian and Sage O’Toole, along with the doubles team of

Hannah Simmons and Kathryn Kulczyk, each won one set.

“I don’t want us to get full of ourselves,” Estancia Coach Rachel

de los Santos said. “We want to keep working hard and beat every

[team] again.”

Tesoro edges Sage

* Freshman Sarah Geocaris swept at No. 1 singles, but Sage Hill

School’s girls tennis team was edged by visiting Tesoro, 78-76 in

games, after both teams were even in the nonleague match, 9-9,

Tuesday at Park Newport.

Sage’s No. 1 doubles team of Jessica Tsoong and Sarah Flynn won

two of three sets as did the second duo of Ale Hsu and Salen Andrews.

Stephanie Langer and Sara Sweeny each took a set in singles for the

Lightning (5-3, 3-0 in the Academy League). Tesoro improved to 6-3.

Sailors fall to Breakers

* The Newport Harbor High girls tennis team could not derail

nonleague host Laguna Beach, which remained undefeated with a 14-4

victory over the Sailors Tuesday.

Vanessa Dunlap and Diana Khoury won a singles set each as the

Sailors dropped to 3-2 and Laguna improved to 6-0.

Newport plays in Sea View League action Thursday at 3 p.m., at

Woodbridge.

CdM loses to Peninsula

* The Corona del Mar High girls tennis team lost seven sets in

singles and dropped a 12-6 nonleague match to visiting Peninsula

Tuesday.

Senior Brittany Holland won two sets in singles, and the doubles

team of Juliette Mutzke and Jill Damion earned three victories for

the Sea Kings (3-3). Peninsula improved to 6-0.

CdM returns to action Thursday at 3:15 p.m. at Laguna Beach.
