Hoops game to raise funds for paramedic

Firefighters from Newport Beach, Fountain Valley and Garden Grove

will play a basketball game on Saturday against the Chinese Junior

Olympic Men’s team to generate support for Newport Beach paramedic

Brian Slater, who was injured in a bodysurfing accident last month.

Admission to the game is free. However, firefighters will be

accepting donations and passing a boot allowing guests to make a

donation for Slater. All of the money raised during the event will go

directly to the Newport Beach Fire Assn., which has set up a fund to

help the family.

The game will begin at 8 p.m. at Tustin High School, at 1171 El

Camino Real in Tustin. For more information, call the Newport Beach

Firefighters Assn. at (949) 646-0533.

its services is available by calling at (714) 754-5030.
