The Friends of the Shipley

Nature Center will host a California Native Plant Sale from 9 a.m.

to 3 p.m. Most of the native plants don’t require much water and they

attract native birds, bees and insects. The sale will be at the

center located in the western part of Huntington Beach Central Park,

south of Slater Street and west of Goldenwest Street. Information:

Enjoy one of the nation’s

first 18-hole basket disc courses in Central Park, across the

street from the Huntington Beach Public Library and Cultural Center.

Two-round tournaments are held the first Saturday of each month.

Wiskers Pet Beastro and

Bowteek will host pet portrait sessions for Halloween photo

packages including a costume contest with prizes for best-dressed

animals from 1 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

meeting at the Huntington Beach Central Library. Speaker Gene Cheney,

director of the Hemet Family History Center, will present part 1 at

11 a.m. and part 2 at 12:30 p.m. Admission is free for members and $5
