HISTORY OF HITCHCOCK

Orange Coast College is offering a nine-part film history on

Alfred Hitchcock beginning today. The series will be moderated by

retired OCC professor H. Arthur Taussig. Each session will be held at

6:30 p.m. one Friday each month. The events will be held at OCC’s

SHORT FILM WOW

Surf film maker Josh Pomer will screen his new short film, “Wow,”

FIREFIGHTERS VS. CHINESE JR. OLYMPIC TEAM

LOUNGE CHAIR THEATRE

The Fairview Park Friends Committee of Costa Mesa will host its

first Lounge Chair Theatre at Fairview Park, at 6 p.m. Oct. 18. The

feature film will be “Shrek,” which is rated PG. The film shall be

shown on a large screen. The main feature will be preceded by a short

on Fairview Park. There will be pre-movie games for children provided

KENNEDY LECTURE

Sen. Edward M. Kennedy will deliver the 2003-04 Peltason Lecture

on Democracy at UCI’s Crystal Cove Auditorium on Oct. 24. Doors open

CATTLE BARON’S BALL

The Cattle Baron’s Ball will be held at the Orange County Fair and

AND MAHLER’

The Family Classics Season for the Orange County Performing Arts

Center will feature a gala opening night on Wednesday with a concert

by the Pacific Symphony featuring one of the world’s great violin

virtuosos, Midori. She will play Mendelssohn’s Concerto for Violin

and Orchestra in E minor. Carl St. Clair will then lead the orchestra

in a performance of Mahler’s Symphony No. 1 in D minor. The concert

will also be given on Thursday. Both performances are at 7 p.m.

Violinist Karen Gomyo will perform Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto

became the youngest winner of the Young Concert Artists International

OCC SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA

Orange Coast Community College’s Symphony Orchestra will open its
