ON THE AGENDA
Here are a few of the items the council will consider Monday.
TRAFFIC FEE REVIEW
The council will conduct its annual review of the traffic impact
fee program and decide whether to continue the fee of $177 per
average daily trip generated by a new development.
State and city code require a traffic impact fee study to
establish justification for imposing the fees on any new development.
The fees fund transportation improvements necessitated by new
commercial, industrial and residential developments.
In April 2002, staff prepared a new traffic impact fee study based
on information in the general plan update adopted by the council in
January 2002.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Since the completion of the study, no significant changes have
been made to the general plan or the circulation requirements that
would warrant a revision of the traffic impact fee study. So staff
recommends continuing the fees until the next annual update.
TRANSPORTATION COMMITTEE APPOINTMENTS
The council will consider the appointment of new members to the
Downtown and Eastside Transportation Ad Hoc Committee.
The committee was approved by the council in May 2001, and 13
members were selected in October 2001. There are three vacancies.
In September, the council approved the extension of the
committee’s term by four months to next February to give it more time
to come up with recommendations and to hold a public workshop to get
comments from business owners and residents.
WHAT TO EXPECT
The council can either fill the vacancies or leave them open
because of the limited time the committee has left.
