the counseling services offered by ATSC. The reception was

underwritten by the generosity of Ted Matthews, Debbi and David

Spotted in the ATSC crowd were Yolanda Biewers, Loren Blackwood

and Richard Moriarty, Shari Ciko, Sally Crockett, Renae Fladeboe,

Lowden, Grace and Jim Mucci, Deborah Mars and Kornell Kwock, and

TALLER THAN SAN JOSE

The Newport-Mesa crowd came out to support Taller San Jose,

raising an impressive $250,000 for the Santa Ana-based youth

education and job training center.

More than 500 guests converged upon historic Mission San Juan

Capistrano for the recent Saturday evening party under the stars.

Organizers billed the event as “Light Up A Life,” with the dinner and

auction proceeds funding programs that re-direct young men from gangs

into productive citizenship.

Taller San Jose was started by the Catholic Sisters of St. Joseph

in 1995 and today serves some 500 students enrolled in training

programs including 80 young men serving as apprentices in the

construction trades through the “Taller San Jose Tech Program.” The

evening was chaired by Mimi Cora, Rita Deiss, Jannette Ingardia and

Linda Jackson.
