The La Strada dell’ Arte, a festival...

The La Strada dell’ Arte, a festival of artists who make their

creations with chalk on asphalt, drew a horde of talent and

spectators to Balboa Village to admire their work last Sunday.

The uniqueness of the festival is that people can watch as

masterpieces, albeit temporary art, unfold before their eyes and the

artists can interact with the artists as they create.

While the artwork is intriguing on their own merit, their grandeur

would be lost by merely reproducing the artwork in the newspaper.

Photographer Kent Treptow solved this problem by carefully composing

artist Tracy Lee Stum in the lower corner of the frame and by leaving

spectators legs in the image. This gave a sense of scale to the

artwork and also told the story of these pieces that were created in

front of the spectators.
