No Mirage at the Balboa Bay Club

Steve Wynn, chief executive of Wynn Resorts best known for

developing the Mirage Hotel, will give the keynote address today at

the Buchanan Street Partners Real Estate Summit at the Balboa Bay

Club & Resort.

The event is invitation-only and designed specifically for real

estate professionals. The day will also feature Michael McCook,

senior investment officer for the California Public Employees

Retirement System. McCook will discuss investment trends and the

importance of timing in real estate transactions.

Girls Inc. set to hold annual luncheon

Girls Incorporated of Orange County will hold its annual luncheon

Oct. 17 to celebrate Women and Girls Who are Strong, Smart and Bold.

Sandra Robbie, host of KOCE-TV’s “Help Me Grow,” will act as

mistress of ceremonies and Rosemary Turner, vice president south

California district of United Parcel Service will be honored.

Turner is responsible for district-wide operations that extend

from Long Beach to the Mexican border. It is the largest

revenue-generating district for the company, servicing 178,000

customers daily.

Robbie won a Golden Mike Award and a 2003 Emmy Award for her

documentary “Mendez vs. Westminster: For All the Children/Para Todos

los Ninos” on KOCE. The public broadcasting channel also developed an

interactive table activity for the luncheon.
