Newport Harbor thumps Paramount
Running back Jasen Ruiz scored three touchdowns to lead the Newport
Harbor High freshmen football team to a 28-0 nonleague victory over
Paramount Oct. 9. The Sailors remained undefeated (5-0) with the win.
Newport’s interior offensive linemen Frank Muscatello, Ian Fowler,
Bryce Jardine, James Skahen, Scott Lawler and tight end Andrew Ward
opened holes for Ruiz and fullbacks Nick Frazier and Brett Houten.
Frazier rushed several times up the middle for large gains.
Wideouts Jarrett Daniel, Dan Winkle and Brice Stillman caught key
passes from quarterback Kevin Williams. Daniel scored a touchdown.
Frazier and Houten also caught passes for long gains. Houten added
a catch for a two-point conversion.
Defensive linemen Josh Kelleher, Cody McDonald, Brian Beaudette,
Madison Morrell and Mike Calabrese neutralized Paramount’s running
game with lateral pursuit.
Linebackers Frazier, Houten, Enzo Weber and Ruiz, along with
defensive backs Daniel, Taylor Sepulveda and Sillman forced one
fumble, recovered by Frazier.
