The Costa Mesa Jr. Pee Wee Black Mustangs extended their unbeaten

season with their fifth consecutive win, a 34-0 triumph over the

Montebello Sharks in Pop Warner football action on Oct. 11.

Parker Norton ran the opening kickoff 70 yards for the first of

his two touchdowns. The Mustangs have returned the opening kickoff

for a touchdown in three of their five games. Norton’s other TD came

on a 55-yard counter. He also added his third interception of the

year.

Mark Contreras scored his ninth touchdown of the year on a 55-yard

sweep and also played well on defense.

Dakota Gilbert scored his first touchdown of the season on a

10-yard run. Gilbert usually plays on the offensive line.

Michael Taormina, who usually plays quarterback, added the final

score on a 35-yard run.

The Mustangs’ defense, which has allowed 13 points in five games,

held the Sharks to 29 yards of total offense. Jack Jeffries, Graeme

Fraser (kicked three extra points), Zach Porteous, Buzzy Yokoyama,

Spencer Dalby, Grant McKee, Leo Soto, Richie Lowery and Brandon Kelly

led the defense.

Mustangs’ first touchdown and they were on their way to their second

win this season.

Isiah Watanabe added two touchdowns and rushed for more than 100

yards while Tre Le’Ele added two interceptions. Austin Bagby and Luis

Gomez also contributed to the offense.

Eric Travis, Bryan Guzman and David Griffin opened big holes along

the offensive line for the Green Mustangs (2-3).

Frank DeNoewer gave the Mustangs an early lead, but Brea scored

twice in the third quarter to take a 12-6 lead for good.

stifled any momentum the Mustangs (3-2) hoped to produce.

Anthony, Jeff Hamilton, Sean DiBuono, Cameron Hobbs, David Derieg and

Shane Butler.

Robbie Gemayal, Jesse Dawson, Bret Klein, Chris Gute and Jordan
