HISTORY OF HITCHCOCK

Orange Coast College is offering a nine-part film history on

Alfred Hitchcock. The series will be moderated by retired OCC

professor H. Arthur Taussig. Each session will be held at 6:30 p.m.

LOUNGE CHAIR THEATRE

The Fairview Park Friends Committee of Costa Mesa will host its

first Lounge Chair Theatre at Fairview Park, at 6 p.m. today. The

feature film will be “Shrek,” which is rated PG. The film shall be

shown on a large screen. The main feature will be preceded by a short

on Fairview Park. There will be pre-movie games for children provided

by the city’s Mobile Recreation Van. Attendees are encouraged to

bring their own blankets, folding chair, jackets, pillows and

The Exchange Club of Newport Harbor will present Dinner and the

Movies starting at 5:30 p.m. Thursday. The evening will begin with a

food festival by a dozen Newport area restaurants and at 7:30 p.m.,

KENNEDY LECTURE

Sen. Edward M. Kennedy will deliver the 2003-04 Peltason Lecture

on Democracy at UCI’s Crystal Cove Auditorium on Friday. Doors open

at 5 p.m. and the lecture titled “Health Policy and Economic

Security” begins at 6 p.m. Seating is on a first come first serve

CATTLE BARON’S BALL

The Cattle Baron’s Ball will be held at the Orange County Fair and

Exposition Center at 7 p.m. Friday. The event will feature live and

silent auctions for items such as the voice of Lily Tomlin’s

“Ernestine” character to be used on your answering machine. Proceeds

of from the event will help fund research grants and educational

programs for Orange County Families. Tickets start $150, with $250
