Surfer Girls under-10 team hangs shutout on Flames, 3-0, in

Region 97

Nicole Perrier scored twice and Nicky Rodriguez added another in a

3-0 shutout for the Surfer Girls over the Flames in girls-under 10

action in AYSO Region 97 soccer action Oct. 11.

Caroline Johnson, Perrier, Sarah Sweetland and Kelly Torres

defended the goals. Jenna Castillo, Taylor Dittoe, Emma Howard and

Kylie Pochirowski all added strong plays.

Goalkeepers Karli Leal and Amber Eary held the Flames at bay.

* Breakers 6, Highlanders 0:

Striker Meaghan Kay scored three times in the first half to lead

the Breakers to their fourth victory and first shutout of the season.

Aly Delbrook scored three goals in the second half after moving to

forward from sweeper.

Forward Alexandria Chandler assisted Kay on her first goal while

Robin Young made the key pass on the third goal.

Halfbacks Casey Duckworth, Kari Hancock, Katie Calder and Samantha

Small dribbled and often passed to forward Ali Hayes.

Fullbacks Page Keys and Sydney Groves aided goalkeeper Christina

Young.

Forward Alex Farah had many shots on goal for the Highlanders with

strong passes from Kelly Conant.

* Blue Crush 5, Cougars 3:

Madison Wooters blasted three goals, including two in the first

half, to lead the Blue Crush. Allison Schelin added a goal and assist

in the fourth period with another score from Gretchen Tingler.

Kimbie Cadarette, Andrea Ocampo, Taylor Harrison, Danielle

Harrison and Tiara Landrigan held the Cougars to three goals.

* Fireballs 3, Red Hot Chili Peppers 1:

The Fireballs erased a 1-0 Peppers’ lead to score three unanswered

goals to win.

After Peppers’ forward Katherine Maddox scored the game’s first

goal, Rachel Vensand found the back of the net twice with a single

scored from Molly Anderson capping the Fireballs’ scoring.

Ailani Hause and Christine Jacques provided strong offense with

midfield support given by Kirsten Rohan, Morgan Long, Elyssa Barnett

and Gianna Light.

Kate Batstone, Chelsea Taylor and Christiana Dupont led the

defense in front of goalkeeper Sophia Muscatello, who hasn’t allowed

a goal this season. The Fireballs have only allowed three goals this

fall.

For the Peppers, the offense was led by Madison Jabara and Maddox

with midfield support given by Allison Kahn, Jasmine Gallant and Lily

Anderson.

Carolyn Smith, Taylor Morgan and Hannah Vigil anchored the defense

Emily Brown and Cary Pickett made several saves in goal.

* Fighting Pickles 3, Killer Canaries 1:

The Fighting Pickles fought back from an early deficit to post the

win.

Sarah Zomaya scored two goals while Madison Grant added one goal.

Delaney Bell, Hannah Nance and Paisley Muller led the defense

while goalkeeper Hunter Jennings stopped several first-half shots.

Rachel Clayton, along with forwards Anna Newman and Kaili Brande,

helped at midfield.

In boys under-10 action:

* Silver Wolves 3, Green Vipers 1:

Goals by Caleb Candelaria and Casey Shearer in the fourth quarter

proved the difference for the Silver Wolves in the victory.

The Green Vipers tied it 1-1 after an errant pass across midfield

led the break to the goal. Goalkeeper Jason Wooding kept the Vipers

from scoring in the fourth quarter.

Robert Boullon scored in the first quarter to give the Silver

Wolves the early lead.

Clay Smyth, Boullon and Candelaria started the game at forward

with Eli Gomez and Efe Atli controlling the midfield.

Nathan Mayhugh, Casey Shearer and Wooding led the defense with

Jacob Swain at keeper.

Cody Lippman, Cameron Candelaria and Wyatt Muller rotated in at

halfback and fullback.

* Trey Franklin tallied a hat trick as the Hurricanes faced the

Hot Ice.

Parker Martinez played well in goal for the Hurricanes in the

first half with Bobbie Baskent, Raddon Gross and Christopher Okey

assisting on Franklin’s goals.

James Klobe had a strong shot on goal that was turned away by the

Pierce Ward, the Hot Ice goalkeeper.

Ryan Ridley took over in goal in the second half with C.J. Tona

and Nicolas Jobe leading the midfield.

Ricky Ridley and Izaak Lofgren stabilized the defense with Ellery

Sever controlling possession as a sweeper.

In girls under-8 action:

* Andie Strode scored two goals while Emily Nall capped the Blue

Jets’ scoring against the Pink Ladies.

Nicole Vigil and Megan Daly led the Jets’ charge as well.

* Carolyn Hernandez, Berkley Van Oostendorp and Emily Conant took

turns in goal for the Girls on Fire, combining for several saves.

Shelby Slezak, Ricky Barton and Reo Nathan played strong defense

while Alan Courier scored on an assist from Analysa Vivanco. Cortlynn

Clement added another goal for the Girls on Fire.

In boys under-8 action:

* The Green Goblins and Soccer Shockers each showed skillful play

in their game. Andrew Dimas, Wil Crook, Marc Gehlke, Joey Gregory and

Cole Chapin passed and moved the ball well to assist Chas Beck in

scoring goals.

T.J. Tarazevits and Jake Farwell played fiercely in the backfield

with Buddy Mitchell stopping many shots in goal.

In girls under-7 play:

* The Firecrackers scored early and held off several late scoring

chances by the Flowers.

Bryn Crowell started the Firecrackers off well in the first

quarter. Riley Alexander and Libby Knight combined for teamwork in

the second quarter with Knight taking the ball up the left side and

finding Alexander with the pass. Alexander finished the play by

striking the ball into the right corner for the second goal of the

half.

Reagan Ritter and Ryan Moncrief each saw action in goal. Ritter

made seven saves and Moncrief had six.

Kira Wandrocke played well at both ends of the field.

* Gabby Shelley and Kierstyn Yardley scored their first goals of

the season for the Hula Girls against the Pink Panthers.

Mallory Gyulay and Kate Yasko also scored with MacKenzie Gaddis

and Caroline Gels playing solid defense in front of goalkeeper

Brittany Welsh.

* Rowan Frederiksen scored two goals, one on an assist from Abbey

Pickett, to lead the Surfer Girls.

Carlee Capana received the hustle award and Racheal Whitelegge

made some strong kicks. Kate Pipkin covered the field and Kelsey

Prater displayed solid offense and defense. Allison Trammell led in

goal.

* Katie Duhoux scored one goal while Sabrina Sanchez and Ali

Wilson fired shots for the Groovy Girls against the Shooting Stars.

Dani DeSantis added several breakaways with Olivia Sever anchoring

at fullback.

Kristen Kiehnle and Amanda Dupont each made many saves in goal.

In boys under-7 action:

* The Pythons showed tight defense but the Orange and Black Tigers

were able to break through for three goals.

Jack Binford, Ryan Braun and Landon Knight all scored for the

Tigers with William Johnson and Baron Davis adding shots on net.

Thomas Quinn, David Hartman and Griffith Clawson denied several

Python attacks.

* The Blue Flames showed their skills against the Green Vipers.

Will Hackman made strong passes and scored a goal with Peter

Goodman, Jack Heald and Grant Fuchs each adding several saves in

goal.

James Porter and Jimmy Preston provided offensive threats while

Erick Pineda and John Drayton supported and also added strong

defense.

In girls under-6 play:

* Jaci DeFeo and Paige Tamblyn scored for the Cherry Bombs against

the Sea Queens with help on both sides of the ball coming from Emma

Buggeln, Emily Fletcher and Megan Keys. All five girls played the

entire game.

* Samantha Falasco, Lindsey Knorad and Jordan Scott all scored

goals for the Dolphins against the Blue Dolphins.

Mackenzie Mowery, London Davis and Savannah Boyd supported on the

defensive line.

In boys under-6 action:

* The Blue Dolphins scored four goals against the Silver Sharks.

Cooper Hendrix, Max Peterson, Matthew Brodie and Sam Launder. Brodie

executed a slide-kick past Sharks’ defenders for his goal while Chase

Braun’s throw-in found Launder, who took it for the eventual score.

* Jacob Duerhing, Hunter Ficenec and Corbin Joyce sparked the

Sharks’ offense against the Warriors with help on defense from Kyle

Moran, Ryan Young, Shane Mitchell and Dillon Murphy.

* Cade Clement and Spike Stoneman moved the ball for the Blue

Sharks against the Barracudas. Kevin Andonian, Jack McClintock and

R.J. Reid kept the ball out of Barracuda territory.

* The Men in Black were led by the scoring and defense of Jeremiah

Sheldon, Andrew Laidlaw and David Fisher against the Green Giants.

Jake Weyrich narrowly missed his first shot on goal and Dante Amodeo

played well at both ends of the field.
